Why ReElect Meg

“Meg is fair, open-minded, pragmatic, and curious. She knows how to get things done and has a demonstrated track record of leadership and commitment to our schools and the town.” - Amy Checkoway, SC Member

I am running for re-election because I want every kid to want to go to Belmont Public Schools and I am excited to continue serving our community and our awesome school district. With new leadership, consistency on the School Committee matters. By serving as Chair, I have been steering the School Committee and making headway to support every student in the district. I want to make sure all the work done continues and we deliver on promises we made to the community.

Meg’s Priorities for Belmont Public Schools

  • Leadership

Reenergize strong leadership in the district to create a work environment that attracts and retains high quality educators and staff. Build a culture and practices that celebrate and reflect the home languages of our student body, including providing access to translated materials on the district website and in email communications.

  • Sustainable Budgeting

Systemically rethink how we approach and invest in special education towards better outcomes for kids, increasing parent satisfaction, and controlling costs. Improve our reporting system for the School-Based Medicaid Program to offset the cost of nursing positions. As COVID federal funds end, explore partnership with non-profits including McLean Hospital for additional Mental Health supports.

  • Opportunities

Nurture a district that offers students a range of opportunities to discover who they are, be challenged, and find joy in learning. Expand real-world internship opportunities for HS students, partner with volunteers to build capacity for a tutoring program so all students can work towards their personal goals.
